In action sports cultures, we’re part of a vast, diverse network of people. Athletes, enthusiasts, ambassadors, creatives, leaders, and community members from many walks of life. This deep interconnectedness, while beautiful, also means we face a greater risk of encountering grief. Simply put, we love more, we lose more, and we feel more.
Grief shows up in many forms for us. It can stem from life-changing events, shifts in our communities, transitions in our careers and identities, or the loss of a loved one. Whatever the cause, grief is real, grief is hard, grief is heavy, and addressing it matters.
We believe that grief support is suicide prevention. You are not alone. We see the weight you carry, and we're here to help.
GRIEF SUPPORT IS SUICIDE PREVENTION
REACH OUT TODAYABOUT GRIEF SUPPORT:
S.T.A.Y. - Somebody's Thinking About You is offering a free grief support program designed for individuals in the action sports community who have experienced loss or are navigating grief.
Whether you’re navigating the death of a loved one, a life transition, a shift in identity, or any change that carries a sense of loss, you deserve space to tend to it. This program offers a supportive, compassionate environment to process your experience and begin to heal.
- We invite the community to connect with a grief-informed mental health professional for up to 5 free one-on-one 50 min sessions via telehealth. These sessions are tailored to support you through the emotional impact of grief and help you find stability, strength, and clarity as you move forward.
- This is a space to be seen, supported, and reminded that you’re not alone, that individuals can grow around their grief, and that there is hope for healing.
Grief Support IS NOT therapy.
- Rather, it is a supportive space to help you get through this time.
- Grief can show up in many forms: after the death of someone close, the end of a relationship, a major life transition, or even the loss of identity.
- Our Grief Support program is here to offer connection, validation, and grounding when you’re feeling the weight of that loss.
You might find Grief Support helpful if:
- You're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or alone in your grief.
- You’re looking for a space to be heard and supported without judgment.
- You want practical ways to ground yourself and move through grief, one moment at a time.
- You need a place to start before finding a long-term therapist.
- You are currently experiencing a mental health crisis, suicidal thoughts that feel unmanageable, or symptoms of active psychosis.
- Your grief is very new and raw, and you feel like you're barely making it through the day. Individual therapy may be more supportive in this stage.
- You are required to attend as part of a court order. This space is voluntary and based on mutual readiness to participate.
CONSIDERATIONS
If you are experiencing any of the above and are in a mental health crisis, please seek immediate support.
- You can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, contact a licensed mental health professional or local medical provider, or go to your nearest emergency room.
- If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
