OUR VALUES
- Connection - We believe that authentic connection saves lives. Building community and showing up for one another creates a sense of belonging and hope.
- Compassion - We lead with empathy, understanding that everyone carries their own struggles. Every act of care, no matter how small, makes a difference.
- Courage - We challenge stigma and break the silence around mental health and suicide by speaking openly, honestly, and without judgment.
- Authenticity - We embrace honesty over perfection. It’s okay to not be okay… and it’s okay to show it.
- Inclusion - Suicide does not discriminate, and neither do we. Everyone, regardless of background, identity, or achievement, is welcome and valued.
- Knowledge for Empowerment - We encourage help-seeking, education, and mutual support so that individuals feel equipped to care for themselves and others.
- Accountability & Growth - We acknowledge that learning and progress come from experience, reflection, and humility. We are committed to doing the best we can and growing with our community based on their needs.
OUR BELIEFS
S.T.A.Y. is rooted in the belief that the action sports community can be a powerful and safe space for navigating mental health and suicide.
- We believe that connection can save lives.
- We believe that we can cultivate a culture where people genuinely support one another. Where individuals feel empowered and educated to both offer and seek help, and where conversations about mental health are met with understanding rather than judgment.
- We believe that helping is helpful, and that every act of care, no matter how small, can make a difference.
- We believe that it’s okay to not be okay, that Suicide sucks, and that individuals have to ask for help.
- We believe that somebody's thinking about you.
OUR GOALS
- Raise Awareness
- Challenge Stigma
- Normalize Conversation
- Encourage Help-Seeking
- Provide Access
- Remind Everyone They Are Not Alone
Suicide and mental health struggles touch everyone, even in the action sports world, where the pressure to always appear “stoked” can make it hard to ask for help. Founded in 2021, S.T.A.Y. creates safe, supportive spaces through events, partnerships, workshops, and resources, fostering connection and care to remind everyone they are not alone.
