REFLECTION:
The World Premiere of Wayward, at Woodward Park City & Mia Lambson
01/19/2026
On December 14, 2025, S.T.A.Y. - Somebody’s Thinking About You, had the honor of attending the world premiere of Wayward, a landmark snowboard documentary by our friend and filmmaker Mia Lambson of Tomboy Films. The film celebrates the women who helped shape snowboarding and the lasting impact they have on the sport and its culture.
The day began with an on-hill ride at Woodward Park City alongside women featured in the film, followed by the premiere and a post-screening gathering. S.T.A.Y. was present with volunteers, educational materials, and on-site mental health professionals, offering conversation, connection, and resources focused on mental wellness and suicide prevention.
It has been a little over a month since the event, and we wanted to take a moment to reflect on and celebrate Mia Lambson’s contribution to action sports culture with the completion and release of Wayward.
Mia began snowboarding in 2002, discovered filmmaking in 2007, and landed her first filming job at Brighton Resort in Utah, which launched her career in action sports media. Since then, Mia has worked on projects with High Cascade Snowboard Camp, the U.S. Slopestyle Team, Snowboarder Magazine, Burton, X Games, Red Bull, Adidas, Skullcandy, and Warren Miller. She has also contributed to a variety of non–snowboard-related projects such as The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City and VICE News.
First envisioned in 2018, Wayward came to life over the years, with production beginning in 2022 and filming in 2024. The film’s 2026 premiere marks the culmination of Mia’s career-long commitment to storytelling.
When asked why she made Wayward, Mia shared:
“I felt a responsibility to tell the stories of women in snowboarding… not only what they accomplished, but also what went unrecognized or uncelebrated, and how the landscape has evolved over time. Wayward is meant to inspire people to snowboard, and my hope is that by sharing these stories, we can encourage more women, girls, and those who once felt snowboarding wasn’t for them, or that it was inaccessible, to see that there is room and a community for them in our culture.”- Mia Lambson
For us at S.T.A.Y., Mia’s intention and initiative deeply resonate. Wayward is not only a film about snowboarding… it is a reminder of the power of representation, belonging, and community. These are the same values that guide our work in mental health advocacy and suicide prevention. When people feel seen, supported, and connected, it creates space for healing and hope. We are grateful to stand alongside culture shifters such as Mia, who strive to build inclusive communities where everyone is not only reminded that they matter, but that they belong.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Mia and the creation of Wayward, and to Woodward Park City for hosting the event and providing a place for our community to gather.
Streaming release plans for Wayward are still in the works, but it is predicted to be available in the fall of 2026.
